Young-star Liburd Back With Hawks

In a move that’s sure to please their fanbase and bolster their backcourt depth, the West Yorkshire Hawks have announced the re-signing of promising young guard Ethan Liburd. Liburd was a standout during the Hawks’ inaugural campaign in Division Three last season, showcasing his versatility and burgeoning talent on both ends of the floor.

Coming up from the junior leagues, Liburd faced the daunting task of adapting to senior-level basketball—a transition he handled with aplomb. Throughout the season, he embraced various roles within the team, demonstrating an eagerness to learn. As the season progressed, it became increasingly clear that his true calling was in the backcourt, where he could leverage his agility, court vision, and defensive tenacity.

Liburd’s performance included several standout games, earning him recognition as one of the league’s promising up-and-comers. His contributions were pivotal in helping the Hawks secure a solid position in the standings, setting the stage for future successes.

Reflecting on his first season, Liburd expressed his excitement and optimism, saying “Last season was a great first season. It was my first time playing in a men’s league after coming up from the junior leagues, and it definitely taught me a lot and improved me as a player. As a team, we managed to end the season in a good position, and now we can build even more as a team.”

Hawks co-founder Mark Mills echoed this sentiment, highlighting Liburd’s impressive growth, saying “Ethan came with a great attitude from the get-go. He was keen to learn and continue to develop his game. He certainly made big strides in his first season in senior basketball, and I expect even more progression this year. He is a great teammate and one I hope to have in a Hawks jersey for years to come.”

As the Hawks begin preparations for the new season, Liburd has already rejoined his teammates in training, gearing up for their season opener scheduled for late September.

With the return of Liburd, the Hawks are not just investing in the present but also laying the groundwork for a promising future. His development will be one to watch, as he aims to take another significant step forward in his career, potentially becoming one of the cornerstones of the team.
