Wing Wildie Back For Another Season
The West Yorkshire Hawks have secured a significant piece of their roster puzzle by re-signing versatile wing Harrison Wildie. Wildie, who proved himself indispensable in the Hawks’ inaugural season, is set to bring his all-around game back to the team as they gear up for their second campaign.
Wildie’s return is a major boost for the Hawks. Known for his ability to take on numerous roles, he is comfortable running the point as much as defending the post.
Reflecting on the previous season, Wildie acknowledged the challenges but expressed optimism for the future. “Understandably, last year was very up and down given it was our first year together,” he said. “But I’m looking forward to building on the way we ended the season as a team and from a personal standpoint. Looking forward to getting out there and making an impact.”
Wildie’s commitment to the team’s needs over his own was a standout feature of his play, and it’s a quality that hasn’t gone unnoticed. Mark Mills, co-founder of the Hawks, praised Wildie’s selfless approach and high energy. “Harrison is one of those players that every team needs,” Mills said. “He brings energy and impact whenever he takes to the court. He is happy to do whatever the team needs. At some points last season, he was our point guard and in others, he was our go-to post defender. Players like that are vital to our success, so to have Harrison back for next season is a big move for the Hawks.”
Wildie’s versatility was on full display last season, and it’s expected to be a cornerstone of the Hawks’ strategy as they look to build on the promising moments from their first year. With preseason training set to begin in a few weeks, the Hawks have their sights firmly set on the start of the season in September. The Hawks’ roster is still taking shape, and fans can expect more signing news in the coming weeks.
