Sharpshooter Walsh Back With Hawks

In a move that will have Hawks’ fans buzzing, the club have re-signed 6’2″ guard Dave Walsh. Walsh, who joined the Hawks early in 2024, played a pivotal role in the team’s late-season surge, helping them win eight of their last nine games.

Walsh transitioned to the Hawks after a successful four-year stint in Division One with the Bradford Dragons. His arrival marked an immediate impact, turning heads with his electrifying shooting ability and his knack for hitting shots from almost anywhere on the court. Walsh quickly became a fan favourite, known for his clutch performances and scoring ability.

Reflecting on his return, Walsh said, “Last season was a positive one with the support we received and the following we built. I believe we made a stamp on the league and made a really big push for the playoffs towards the end of the season and caused upsets against teams in higher league positions. I’m excited to be back and to continue building the program and inspiring future generations to get involved in the sport. I beleive that we make a true push to win the league next season”.

Hawks Co-founder, Mark Mills, expressed his enthusiasm about Walsh’s re-signing. “Dave certainly had an impact last season. He put in some huge performances and got the crowd on their feet with so many unreal plays. Looking at the bigger picture, he brought with him a lot of high-level experience and intensity. That mindset and determination really helps set the tone for the younger players.”

Walsh joins forces with returning club captain Jermayne Laing as the Hawks second signing announcement of the off-season. The anticipation for the new season, set to begin in September, is already mounting. Fans can look forward to more exciting player announcements in the coming weeks, with both returning stars and fresh faces expected to bolster the Hawks’ roster.
