Sharks Outlast Hawks In Thrilling Clash
The West Yorkshire Hawks gave it their all in their historic home game against the Sheffield Sharks, but the Sharks ultimately secured a 77-65 victory. While the Hawks started the game with incredible pace, it was the experience of the Sharks’ key players that made the difference.
The first quarter saw a strong opening from the Hawks, but the Sharks quickly found their rhythm. At the end of the first quarter, the Sharks led 21-15. The gap widened slightly by halftime, with the Sharks ahead 45-36.
Despite the Hawks’ valiant efforts, the third quarter ended with the Sharks firmly in control, holding a commanding 67-49 lead. However, the Hawks refused to back down. In a spirited rally during the final quarter, they closed the gap to within 7 points, creating a thrilling atmosphere at the University of Huddersfield. Still, the Sharks held their ground and secured the win with a final score of 77-65.
Leading the charge for the Hawks were Chris Sibbett with 10 points, Hassan Haq with 9 points, and Danny Moulson with 9 points.
Unfortunately, the Hawks face a setback with their big man, Ethan Rose, suffering a knee injury early in the second quarter. An assessment revealed a knee sprain, which is expected to sideline him for approximately six weeks.
The Hawks’ next challenge awaits them on Sunday as they hit the road to take on Manchester Magic in the second round of the cup.
