The countdown to the new basketball season has officially begun, with the West Yorkshire Hawks men’s and women’s teams discovering their schedules for the 2026/27 campaign.

With pre-season preparations well underway, both squads can now look ahead to competitive action as another exciting season of basketball at the Hawks Nest edges ever closer.

The Hawks men’s team will begin their campaign on the road against Manchester Giants on Saturday 19th September before returning to the Hawks Nest for their home opener on Saturday 26th September, where they will welcome Nottingham Hoods to the University of Huddersfield.

Head Coach Adrian Willey believes the release of the fixture list marks an important milestone in the team’s preparations.

“It is always a good moment when the fixtures come out as the season comes into sharp focus. We now have a pin in the calendar to focus at and that will really help us push harder in our season preparations.”

The Hawks women’s team will also begin the season on the road, travelling to Manchester to face Mystics on Saturday 19th September before returning home to the Hawks Nest for their first home fixture against Myerscough on Sunday 4th October.

Head Coach Marc Holmes is eager to get the new season underway after seeing the fixtures confirmed.
