The Hawks Men delivered a dominant performance on the road, powering past Cheshire Wire with a statement 62-113 victory to keep their title hopes alive.

It was Wire who struck first, taking advantage of a slow Hawks start to grab an early lead. But the response from the Neon and Navy was swift as they closed the gap and trailed by just two points at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Hawks tighten the screws defensively, holding Cheshire to just 13 points while finding their groove on offense. That momentum carried them into the half with a 35-46 lead.

After the break, the Hawks hit another level. Relentless on both ends of the floor, they poured in 32 points in the third quarter while continuing to shut down the hosts. By the end of the third, they had stormed ahead by 34 points.

With the result all but secured, the Hawks didn’t let up in closing out the game in ruthless fashion and stretching the final margin to an emphatic 51-point win.

Charles Olusunmade led the scoring with 20 points, while Ethan Rose added 17, Joe Heyes 15, Dan Pilkington 12, and Chris Sibbett 10.

Head Coach Danny Byrne praised the performance saying “After that slow start it was good to see the guys go through the gears and deliver a confident performance. We will continue to push as hard as we can all the way to the end of the season.”

The result keeps the Hawks firmly in the hunt for silverware. They return to the Hawks Nest this Saturday to take on Nottingham Athletic.
