Lydia Hargreaves Takes on a New Challenge with the Hawks

The West Yorkshire Hawks are delighted to announce the signing of Lydia Hargreaves for the 2026/27 season.

After spending more than five years playing in the local league, Hargreaves is ready to test herself at NBL level. Able to operate at shooting guard or point guard, she will add versatility, tireless effort and leadership to the Hawks backcourt.

Hargreaves said: “I’m super excited to be joining the Hawks this season! Playing local league for the last five-plus years has been fun, but I wanted to set myself a challenge this season.”

“I’m excited to do it with such a lovely, talented group of women and Marc, who have all made me feel so welcome already.”

Head Coach Marc Holmes said: “At the start of pre-season, several of our current players recommended Lydia to us. From my first impressions, I can see exactly why, and she is someone who should have been playing National League basketball before this season.”

“Lydia is an absolute workhorse on the court and will bring leadership to the team. I’m excited to see her embrace this opportunity and the impact she can make within the group.”

Hargreaves will now continue preparing alongside her new teammates as the Women’s Team builds towards the start of the new campaign.
