Kumba Back in Neon and Navy
The West Yorkshire Hawks are delighted to confirm that Kumba Bokum Bohum will return for the 2026/27 season, continuing her development with the women’s team for a second campaign in Neon and Navy.
A quick and dynamic guard, Bokum Bohum made significant strides throughout the Hawks’ inaugural NBL season. Her speed and athleticism give the Hawks another exciting option in the backcourt, while the experience gained during her first national league campaign provides a strong platform to build from.
With a year of NBL basketball now under her belt, Kumba will be looking to take another step forward as the Hawks enter their second season.
Reflecting on last year’s campaign and looking ahead to the new season, Kumba said, “Last season was really tough for us. But even through all that, we grew. We learned what it means to stay together when things get difficult, and that’s why I’m looking forward to this new season. I want to see how our team finds its strength again, how we rebuild our confidence, and how we turn all that frustration into motivation. I truly believe we can show a different side of ourselves this year.”
Head Coach Marc Holmes believes that motivation can become a driving force for Kumba as she looks to build on her first season.
Holmes said, “Kumba is clearly really motivated by last season and that is a positive. It is important that we learn those lessons and I feel Kumba has a point to prove this year.”
Kumba is now back in pre-season with her teammates as the Hawks prepare for their second NBL campaign, which gets underway in September. With another year of experience and development behind her, she will be looking to turn the lessons of last season into further progress on the court.
As the women’s squad continues to take shape, excitement is building around the Hawks’ second season and the opportunity to show just how far the group can go.
