Hawks With A Dominant Win In Leeds
On Saturday afternoon, West Yorkshire Hawks secured a convincing 92-66 win against the City of Leeds. The Hawks set the tone early, dominating the first quarter and establishing a commanding 28-13 lead. Despite the City of Leeds fighting back in the second quarter, the Hawks maintained a solid 14-point advantage going into halftime.
The third quarter witnessed a spirited effort from Leeds, with their consistent team offense narrowing the gap to 63-51. However, the Hawks’ experience and composure came to the forefront in the final quarter, sealing the game with a decisive 26-point margin.
Hawks’ offense output was led by Dave Walsh with 28 points, Rob Donaldson with 21, and Jermanye Laing with 12. Coach Mills acknowledged the City of Leeds’ progress, stating, “Leeds provided us with another good test. That young team is developing rapidly, which is credit to the organisation and their coaching team.”
Reflecting on the Hawks’ performance, Coach Mills emphasised the team’s continuous improvement, noting, “From our side, we continue to increase how long in a game we play good basketball today; it was closer to 20 minutes today. As long as we keep striving to be better each game, I continue to believe we are building something special here.”
