Hawks Back in Action Against Knights
This Sunday, West Yorkshire Hawks head to Newcastle University Fitness Centre to face the Division One powerhouse Newcastle Knights in the fourth round of the National Cup. With a tip-off scheduled for 2pm, the Hawks face their biggest challenge yet, stepping up to compete against a team two divisions above them.
The Hawks come into this game sitting fourth in Division 3, holding a solid 2-1 record. While their early-season form has been encouraging, this Cup clash will demand another level of resilience and composure. Coach Danny Byrne acknowledged the stakes, saying, “This is going to be our biggest challenge so far. Clearly, we enter the game as underdogs, but it will be good to see our guys go up against one of the best teams in the country.” His words reflect both the challenge and the opportunity at hand.
Newcastle currently sit 11th in Division One with a 2-3 record. The Knights are a battle-tested team accustomed to high-level competition and will look to reassert their dominance against a lower-division opponent.
This is the start of the important run into the Xmas break for Hawks. Hawks fans will also be excited to see the team back in the Hawks’ Nest with a long-awaited home game on November 23rd against Tees Valley Mohawks.
