Byrne Returns to Lead Hawks
The West Yorkshire Hawks are flying high with the announcement that men’s head coach Danny Byrne has re-signed for the upcoming season – and he’s got unfinished business in the Neon and Navy.
After guiding the Hawks to a historic second-place league finish and their first-ever playoff appearance last season, Byrne’s return sends a clear message: the Hawks are ready to build on the momentum and aim even higher.
“I can’t wait to be back in the Hawks Nest in front of our amazing fans,” said Coach Byrne. “It wasn’t a difficult decision to re-sign with the Hawks. It feels a little like unfinished business. We played well last season, but there is definitely more to come from this team – and I can’t wait to lead them back on the court to see exactly how good they can be.”
Hawks Founder Mark Mills echoed the excitement, saying, “Danny did a great job last season. It’s always difficult taking on a new team, but I feel he made a great start. I’m really looking forward to seeing how we kick on in season two.”
The Hawks management are already deep in preparations for the new campaign, with the 2025–26 season set to tip off in September. With Byrne at the helm once more, and several exciting announcements on the horizon, Hawks fans can expect another thrilling year of basketball at the University of Huddersfield.
One thing is clear – with Coach Byrne leading the charge, the West Yorkshire Hawks are ready to soar.
