Big Man Hussain Re-signs for Second Season
The West Yorkshire Hawks have re-signed big man Banny Hussain for the upcoming season. Hussain’s return is a significant step for the Hawks, who are looking to build on the momentum gained in their inaugural campaign.
Hussain was instrumental in providing much-needed support for the undersized Hawks roster last year. His ability to lock down opposing post players was a key factor in the team’s defensive strategy. Often tasked with guarding the best big men in the league, Hussain embraced the challenge with a blue-collar mentality that quickly made him a fan favorite.
“I really felt like we made a strong impact on the league for our first season,” Hussain said. “We really found form towards the latter part of the season and I am excited to carry that over from the very start of this season. I would love to repay the fans by achieving even greater things this season.”
The Hawks’ co-founder, Mark Mills, echoed Hussain’s sentiments, highlighting the big man’s unselfish play and willingness to do the dirty work. “Banny was a joy to coach last season,” Mills said. “He parked his ego at the door and was happy to come in and do some of the tough things that often go unnoticed. That hard-nosed attitude was a key part of our winning streak in the second half of the season. I know he will play an important part of what we do again this season.”
Hussain’s return comes as the Hawks are set to begin their preseason preparations, with the opening tip-off of the season scheduled for September. The team’s social media channels have been abuzz with anticipation, promising more exciting news in the weeks to come.
