Purpose of the Role
The Hawk’s Women’s Head Coach is charged with designing and implementing a performance programme for the Hawk’s Women’s team for the 24/25 season. They will work alongside the management team of WY Basketball CIC to develop a sustainable, high-performance environment that inspires continual personal growth.

 

Term of Appointment
1st August 2024 to 30th April 2025 (9 months)

 

Contract
This is a freelance/contracted position
NB. Applicant must be able to work in the evenings and at weekends

 

Remuneration
£1,017 – approx. 78 hours across a 9 month contract (£24,336 pro rata)
(Paid via submission of an invoice for £113 on a monthly basis)

 

Duties and Responsibilities
With regards to the Hawks’ Women’s team, the Hawk’s Women’s Head Coach will be responsible for:
– Implementing a style of play that is consistent with the organisation’s philosophy of ‘Better’ and as agreed by the organisation’s senior management.
– Teaching, exemplifying, and guiding the team in embracing the values upheld by WY Basketball of accountability, dedication, honesty, patience, respect and trust.
– Recruitment and selection of athletes in line with agreed selection criteria.
– Fostering a positive environment that is enjoyable, while emphasising high performance standards and behaviours.
– Developing and preparing training schedules for the program whilst ensuring players’ wellbeing is a priority.
– Providing a learning focused environment that is appropriate for each individual player’s stage of development.
– Overseeing the development of in-depth analysis of all players, the team and the opposition and use that analysis to develop individual skill development programmes and team game plans.
– Leading the organisation of operational elements related to both home and away games such as travel, kit and equipment.
– Representing the team with both media and sponsors, when required.
– Ensuring that social media around the team is conducted in the most professional manner.
– Consistent, appropriate and timely communication with WY Basketball senior management.
– Liaising with the club’s Head of Basketball Pathway to develop and maintain clear links between pathway programmes and the senior programmes.

Person Specification
As Hawk’s Women’s Head Coach, the role holder will have:

 

Experience
– Proven experience of leading a senior, preferably women’s, team within the national league, local league or university or college basketball in the UK or equivalent competitions in other countries.
– Demonstrable experience in the strategic and operational planning and implementation of performance basketball programmes.

 

Qualifications
– Basketball England Level 2 (or above) coaching qualification.
